Let’s assume you are a Lynnwood, WA Dentist.
Like most dentists, you are always interested in gaining more patients.
If someone in Lynnwood woke up with a toothache what do you think they
would do? Is it possible they would go to there computer, bring up Google or
Yahoo, and type in: Lynnwood dentist
I think we can all agree that this is a “real life” example.

Answer: If the local Lynnwood Dentist has his website/business show up in 2 or 3 of the
Google search results (all on the first page). This is dominating the competition.
By getting “multiple” search engine results showing up, the person with the toothache, who
